About the Role Do you want to build the digital backbone behind Africa's next wave of renewable energy assets? We're recruiting a Data Engineer to join a high-performing technical team driving centralised monitoring, plant automation, and asset-level performance intelligence across a growing portfolio of power generation and storage sites.
This is a role for someone who loves solving real-world engineering problems using clean, reliable, well-structured industrial data.
Responsibilities1.
Centralised Monitoring & Data Infrastructure Design, deploy, and maintain a unified platform for operational and control data Support real-time plant visibility via a central monitoring hub Ensure secure, standardised data exchange from SCADA, PLCs, sensors, and plant instrumentation2.
Automation & Control System Integration Plan and oversee control system upgrades Coordinate SCADA/PLC enhancement initiatives with technical vendors and maintenance partners Define technical scope, implementation logic, and quality standards for automation deployments3.
Asset Performance Intelligence & Predictive Analytics Build, optimise, and govern data pipelines Identify operational inefficiencies using structured industrial datasets Support failure analysis, predictive maintenance frameworks, and performance dashboards Integrate external data sources (weather, irradiance, hydrology, market inputs) to strengthen asset insight4.
Cybersecurity, Backup & Data Integrity Ensure secure access governance across automation environments Maintain redundancy, backups, and recovery planning to protect asset data integrity at scale5.
