MDIHub is the first provincial innovation hub, established to spur growth in new industries, drive the 4th Industrial Revolution, digitalization, and industrialization of the North West Province economy. Job Title: Business Development Officer: Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub

Reporting To: CEO

Salary Range: R220,000.00 - R280,000.00

Main Purpose of the Job

The Business Development Officer (BDO) will ensure the successful delivery of incubation services at Mafikeng Digital Innovation Hub, including effective operation and use of incubator facilities, achievement of enterprise development goals, and establishing relationships with public and private sector stakeholders, including colleges, universities, and research institutions. The BDO will work closely with entrepreneurs and start-up companies within the incubation programme to foster innovative, technology-based ideas and grow sustainable businesses. A key role involves networking to maintain a pipeline of high-growth, job-creating companies.

Key Performance Areas

• Work with SMMEs/Incubatees to identify and evaluate new markets and target clients.
• Assist SMMEs/Incubatees in developing and implementing strategies.
• Encourage innovative thinking and commercialization of ideas.
• Identify profitable new business opportunities.
• Support SMMEs/Incubatees in achieving sales targets.
• Prepare proposals and presentations for new business opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to deliver compelling presentations.
• Maintain excellent stakeholder relationships.
• Manage enterprise development projects and programs.
• Encourage incorporation of innovative methods by SMMEs/Incubatees.
• Provide coaching and mentoring.
• Work independently and handle pressure effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3-year Degree in Business Management or related field (additional qualification is an advantage).
• Proven track record in developing new businesses.
• Strong client relationship and service skills.
• Self-motivated, responsible, and able to work under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience in innovation and technology-driven industries.
• Understanding of SMME and incubation industries.
• Advanced computer literacy (MS Office, MS Projects).
• Valid South African Driver’s License.
• Experience in starting, owning, or managing a small business.
