This is a remote position.

We are searching for a Technology Manager to serve as the operational lead, responsible for overseeing team deliverables, ensuring alignment with business goals, and enabling seamless execution of projects. This role requires a proactive leader with a strong business mindset, capable of managing day-to-day operations while fostering team cohesion and accountability.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Team Leadership and Coordination:
    • Oversee team members’ tasks and workloads, providing clear guidance on priorities and deadlines.
    • Facilitate regular check-ins and ensure that deliverables align with strategic objectives.
    • Act as a bridge between the CTO and the team, conveying critical updates, expectations, and performance feedback.
  2. Project Management and Deliverable Oversight:
    • Establish project plans, track progress, and mitigate risks to meet deadlines and quality standards.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders from other departments in project execution.
    • Drive adherence to project timelines and budgetary constraints, optimising resource allocation.
    • Develop performance metrics and KPIs to monitor team outputs and drive improvements.
  3. Process, Systems and Infrastructure Improvement and Governance:
    • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current workflows and implement process improvements.
    • Assist in developing the organisation’s technology roadmap aligned to business goals.
    • Ensure adherence to established governance frameworks, enhancing transparency and accountability.
    • Maintain consistent reporting on project status, resource utilisation, and performance metrics.
    • Ensure the organisation’s technology infrastructure is reliable, secure, and scalable.
    • Establish and enforce best practices for technology use and project management within the organisation.
  4. Stakeholder Management:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to secure resources and maintain alignment on shared objectives.
    • Represent the team in key meetings (e.g., manco), providing updates and addressing concerns on project status and needs.
    • Gather feedback from end-users and stakeholders to improve technology services continuously and support.
  5. Talent Development and Mentorship:
    • Collaborate with HR with recruitment and training initiatives.
    • Support the growth and development of team members through coaching and mentorship.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptability within the team, promoting skill development aligned with future needs.

Core Skills and Competencies:

  1. Leadership and People Management: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to adapt, motivate and lead a team effectively.
  2. Strategic Execution: Capability to break down complex Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies into actionable deliverables.
  3. Project and Process Management: Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban) and tools (e.g., Jira or similar).
  4. Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Strong analytical mindset to troubleshoot challenges and make informed decisions.
  5. Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information across different levels effectively.

Technical Skills Requirements:

  1. Project Management and Agile Methodologies: Proficiency in Agile, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies is essential for managing and delivering Ed Tech projects efficiently.
  2. System Integration and API Management: Experience in managing integrations across platforms, particularly with tools like Zoho CRM, Learning Management Systems (LMS), and IPaa S solutions (Zapier, Flowgear, etc.).
  3. Cloud Infrastructure and Dev Ops: Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and Dev Ops practices to manage deployments, CI / CD pipelines, and system scalability.
  4. Data Analytics and Reporting: Skills in data warehousing, ETL, data analysis and reporting, including knowledge of data visualisation tools (e.g., Qlik, Power BI, Tableau) and querying languages (e.g., SQL).
  5. Cybersecurity and Compliance: A solid grasp of cybersecurity fundamentals and compliance with data protection standards (e.g., POPIA) is vital in Ed Tech.

Please note this is a mostly remote position working with teams based primarily in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. The ideal candidate must have a suitable environment to work from home.
