Radiation Protection Standards Specialist
Location: Cape Town, South Africa
Salary: R416,420 – R695,888 p.a.
Our client is seeking to employ a Radiation Protection Standards Specialist to provide technical and scientific expertise in support of the Radiation Protection Programme. The role involves developing and maintaining Radiation Protection guides, standards and procedures in line with IAEA and relevant regulatory requirements.
Key responsibilities Develop Radiation Protection standards in line with IAEA and relevant regulatory requirements
Provide technical and scientific expertise in support of the Radiation Protection Programme and draft radiation safety cases
Develop and implement Radiation Protection policies and procedures Requirements BSc(hons) in Health Physics or Engineering
At least 3 years of experience in conducting reviews and revisions of high‑level scientific, technical and/or regulatory related texts
Demonstrated knowledge of the Radiation Protection regulatory framework and relevant international safety standards
Excellent oral and written command of English
Ability to draft and revise high‑level scientific, technical or regulatory texts
Ability to draft radiation safety cases
Exposure to quality management systems
Self‑management: plans and organizes own work in support of achieving the team’s priorities
Consults with supervisor/manager and takes decisions in full compliance with the rules and regulations
