The main responsibilities include: Supporting the bank’s Purpose through strategic interventions and long-term strategy development to accelerate growth via sustainable finance offerings. Enabling operational alignment to fulfill the bank’s Purpose. Monitoring systemic and strategic developments to provide effective advice and oversight, ensuring alignment with global best practices. Developing Purpose-led / SDF solutions and products. Coordinating ESG disclosures and related reporting for Group Strategy. Providing management with progress reports and performance measures. Developing strategic partnerships and alliances, representing the company's views. Job Responsibilities Research And Analysis Lead the development and implementation of the bank’s strategic intent to be a Purpose-led organization and leader in sustainability by: Staying updated on global and local sustainability trends. Developing strategies to respond to these trends. Evaluating threats and opportunities through a Purpose and ESG lens. Conducting market analysis for new sustainable financial products and services. Tracking And Measurement Track progress of ESG strategies, identify risks, and propose remedial actions. Develop and monitor KPIs to measure sustainability initiatives’ effectiveness and report to senior management. Communication And Engagement Work with frontline teams and clients to understand sustainability goals and provide tailored solutions. Advise on sustainability strategies, products, and ESG integration. Guide sustainability-related projects like emissions reduction and sustainable finance. Collaborate with risk teams to integrate climate and nature considerations. Share insights and challenge business practices constructively. Represent Nedbank externally on relevant bodies. Reporting Manage ESG disclosure approaches and collaborate on reporting. Report strategic outcomes to stakeholders via reports and presentations. Use technology and data visualization to enhance sustainability reporting. Utilize data analytics to assess and improve sustainability performance. Training Develop and deliver Purpose-led & ESG training programs for leadership and staff. General Coordinate special projects for the Group Executive Committee. Contribute to a culture of transformation and continuous improvement. People Specification Essential Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Science, Environmental Management, or related fields. Preferred Qualification Postgraduate qualification in environmental management, finance, or economics. Minimum Experience Level7-10 years of professional experience, preferably in financial services, strategy consulting, or ESG roles within global organizations. Additional Requirements Experience analyzing complex data and systemic situations. Skills in report drafting, stakeholder influence, communication, and trend analysis. Knowledge of banking, business management, governance, and regulatory standards. Behavioral Competencies Customer focus, innovation, high-impact communication, influencing, change management, decision-making, and trust-building.
