Job Purpose
To serve as an effective sales and merchandising agent for retail, franchise, and wholesale customers by maintaining regular contact and providing relevant solutions based on a clear understanding of the customer’s business, environment, and product offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Engagement
- Establish effective route plans to maximize call efficiencies.
- Research and plan to meet objectives for both Vector and customers, including macro and micro environment analysis.
- Execute monthly priorities, ensure promotional compliance, and prepare necessary resources for demonstrations.
- Develop a monthly planner with potential revenue and new line listings, using IT systems as needed.
- Follow up on previous solutions and present new opportunities based on research insights.
- Take orders, launch new products, and conduct promotions.
- Feedback
- Provide quality feedback on competitor activity and supply chain issues.
- Customer Relationship Management
- Maintain and expand the customer base, understand key customer operations, and gather market intelligence.
- Ensure excellent customer service, resolve escalated issues professionally.
- Supply Chain and Distribution
- Address stock availability issues, oversee order taking, and waste management.
- Achieve new product development and distribution targets, and manage short-dated stock.
- Team Coordination and Self-Management
- Champion training, demonstrate willingness to help others, and maintain work standards.
- Manage expectations, participate in performance appraisals, and support company values.
- Take ownership of tasks, plan and prioritize effectively, and utilize reports for stock and sales management.
- Management and Control
- Manage costs and assets, supervise merchandisers, and facilitate staff leave and time management.
- Drive sales targets, supervise customer contact and employee supervision.
Key Relationships
- Internal: Customer team, Operations, Customer Service Centre
- External: Customers across retail, franchise, and wholesale sectors
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Matric, marketing/sales diploma or degree (preferred), valid Code EB driver’s license, 1-2 years direct selling experience.
- Skills include achieving sales goals, analytical thinking, computer literacy, interpersonal skills, planning, problem-solving, and people management.
- Attributes include attention to detail, relationship building, deadline orientation, high energy, initiative, professionalism, and stress tolerance.
