Our client has an opportunity available for a Process Engineer based in Durban.

Requirements:

  • Industrial Engineering degree or similar qualification.
  • Post graduate management qualification would be advantageous.
  • 5 years engineering, production, manufacturing or operations experience- essential.
  • 2 years of which must be in a management capacity.
  • Experience in the mining industry would be advantageous.
  • Experience in Bulk Minerals or Solids Handling Facility or Terminal Operations preferred.
  • Experience in working within a Unionised environment.
  • Good understanding of SHEQ systems.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to motivate staff to achieve desired goals.
  • High levels of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to interact with and influence external and internal stakeholders.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Must be medically fit.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Translate the shipping plan into a production plan incorporating all other activities on the plant.
  • Update or develop process maps to ensure site operates safely, efficiently and optimally.
  • Evaluate all resources and equipment required for the execution of production activities.
  • Mentor, coach and develop employees by building individual and team competence to meet set goals and objectives.
  • Provide input into the operations strategy and budget.
  • Develop and manage operations cost budgets for all operations.
  • Manage service providers.
  • Keep update with all production related procedures and work instructions.
  • Develop training and competency plans for relevant employees.
  • Assist on the development of ‘Product Stewardship’ processes and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance to OHS Act, SHEQ systems and other industry applicable legislation.
  • Drive sustainability programs to reduce energy consumption, water consumption and waste generation.
  • Complete and review all Risk Assessments for the plant.
  • Participate in audits and lead investigate.
  • Participate in project scoping for all improvement and capital projects.
  • Liaise with Logistic Planning with regards to the customer’s operational requirements.
  • Manage the availability of equipment for maintenance and repairs.
  • Fulfil Production Standby Manager as and when required.
