Purpose of the Position
The Guide and Lodge Manager Couple is responsible for the overall management and operation of a lodge while also providing professional guiding services to guests. The couple works together to ensure excellent guest experiences, efficient lodge operations, staff supervision, and successful hospitality and tourism services. Key Responsibilities
Lodge Management Duties
Guest Services
Welcome and assist guests during their stay. Ensure high levels of guest satisfaction and customer service. Handle guest enquiries, complaints, and special requests. Coordinate guest activities and experiences.
Operations Management
Oversee daily lodge operations. Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and operational standards are maintained. Monitor reservations, check-ins, and check-outs. Manage lodge administration and reporting.
Staff Management
Supervise; train, and motivate lodge staff. Prepare staff schedules and duty rosters. Ensure staff comply with lodge policies and procedures.
Financial Management
Assist with budgeting and cost control. Monitor stock levels and lodge supplies. Handle cash control and basic financial administration.
Health and Safety
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintain emergency and security procedures.
Guiding Duties
Safari and Tour Guiding
Conduct guided game drives, walks, or tours. Share knowledge about wildlife, nature, culture, and conservation. Ensure guest safety during activities. Conservation and Environmental Awareness
Educate guests on conservation practices. Promote environmental sustainability and responsible tourism. Equipment and Vehicle Maintenance
Inspect and maintain safari vehicles and guiding equipment. Report maintenance issues when necessary. Minimum Qualifications
Lodge Manager
Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism Management, or related field.
Guide
Recognised Tourist Guide qualification. Valid guiding certification and permits. First Aid certificate and valid driver’s licence with PDP (where required).
Experience
3–5 years’ experience in hospitality or lodge management. Previous guiding experience in a lodge, reserve, or safari environment. Experience in guest relations and staff supervision. Knowledge
