Job Description
dhk Interior Design is a vibrant and dynamic team of interior designers who are breaking the mould of what makes great design. We don’t believe in designing for trends. Rather, we believe in creating interior spaces that work hard for our clients, using colour, texture, form and materials to express who they are. Our work is contemporary but timeless. We design for leading blue-chip and boutique clients in the hospitality, multi-residential, commercial, retail and education sectors. And we love what we do.

The role:
We’re looking for a senior designer who has experience of delivering interior design projects from concept development through to implementation and construction management. You’ll need to be detail-oriented with a strong track record as a skilled all-rounder. Working with us, you’ll hone your project management skills and demonstrate your excellent communication skills. You’ll need to be adept at presenting clear ideas both internally and externally. You must also have a sound understanding of technical and commercial feasibility.
Roles and responsibilities:
Taking ownership of and responsibility for projects from inception to handover
Assess the client's project requirements
Develop clear and accurate briefs that fully express the client’s needs
Present concepts and proposals to the client and colleagues
Expand and develop designs to align with the client’s brief, budget and regulations
Generate technical and construction documentation packages
Liaise with suppliers, site coordinators and project managers
Facilitate project handovers
Support the growth and development of the business Qualifications
Skills and expertise required:
Demonstrated ability to train the design team
Collaborative mindset and flexible, adaptable approach to working with teams
Experience in managing multiple projects and teams concurrently
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Creativity and three-dimensional thinking to create evocative, functional, progressive spaces
Excellent conceptual thinking, evident in the ability to develop practical, creative concepts
Clear understanding of construction methods
Extensive knowledge of the local supplier market and service delivery in South Africa
Commitment to staying up to date with current trends
A consistent and methodical approach to work in progress and in follow through
Excellent numerical skills and experience with budgeting
Proactive approach to networking and business development
Essential qualifications and credentials Revit, Auto CAD, Sketchup skills are essential
Candidates must be eligible to work in South Africa.
