Junior Voice and Network Infrastructure Engineer Position Overview: As a Junior Voice and Network Infrastructure Engineer, your primary responsibility is to maintain and improve on the infrastructure used at Logimeter, supporting the development team as well as the rest of business.
You will play a crucial role in monitoring, maintaining and improving the current systems, striving to improve performance and availability as well as innovate on current processes to improve efficiencies in teams utilizing the infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be proactive, dependable, ability to troubleshoot issues and good communication skills while working in a team and handling potential business impacting scenarios.
This role will report directly to the Head of Infrastructure.
Core Skills (Must-Have)Voice and SIP Fundamentals (Daily Ops)SIP School/CCNA Voice equivalent Understands Freeswitch or Asterisk LUA, Pearl and SIP based scripting Linux & Shell (Daily Ops)Comfortable in Debian/Ubuntu CLIUnderstands systemd, journalctl, netstat, lsof, top, htop, etc.
Can write/read basic Bash scripts (looping, if conditions, cronjobs)Networking Fundamentals Knows basics of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, firewalls, SSL/TLSCan troubleshoot using ping, traceroute, dig, tcpdump.
Mikrotik knowledge of NAT, policy based routing, destination based NAT, firewall access lists, walled gardens.
AWS Basic Operations Launch, SSH, and manage EC2 instances Modify and query Route 53 records IAM basics: least privilege, access keys, and role concepts Web Stack Familiarity Basic understanding of how Apache2 works (virtual hosts, mod_wsgi, mod_ssl)Can reload, debug logs, and look into various errors or service issues of apache, django and mod_wsgi for apache.
Infrastructure Tools & Concepts Source Control / CI-CD Awareness Gitlab proficiency: clone, commit, diff, merge, push, pull Understanding of pull requests, Git Lab/Git Hub pipelines, test pipelines.
Gitlab Runner concepts.
Domain experience using 365 Tenants/Google Workspace.
SPF, DMARC, DKIM concept and operational understanding.
Monitoring & Logging Can interpret logs from Apache, Postgre SQL, systemd services Familiarity with any of: Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, Cloud Watch, GCP Logging, SNMP Based monitoring, blackbox exporter and SQL.
Basic DB Skills Connecting to postgresql shell to debug queries/modify roles Can run SQL/PSQL queries and tail logs to identify issues.
Understands concept of schema, indexes, roles Understanding of replication, either logical or streaming, postgresql backup procedures and version checking.
Security Skills Familiarity with Bitdefender would be beneficial, mail security and device policy security.
Linux UFW understanding, Mikrotik Firewall understanding and ability to implement and update rules.
AWS Access list understanding and ability to implement and update rules.
Desirable Technical Skills (Nice to Have)CCNA Routing and Switching or equivalent Understanding of Python fundamentals.
