Overview The Treatment Plan Coordinator (TPC) ensures that Touro Dental Health provides high-quality dental care services by working with staff, students, patients, and faculty within the Group Clinical Practice Model to achieve dental care goals and maintain open communication lines. The TPC reports to the Director of Clinical Operations. This position aims to make each phase of patient treatment a positive experience, from the initial phone call through the completion of dental care. The TPC collaborates closely with student dentists and faculty to ensure patients understand their treatment plans and payment options, meeting their needs and expectations. This includes explaining treatment details, benefits, insurance benefits, financial obligations, assisting with financial arrangements, and coordinating appointments. The TPC also reviews patient records to ensure compliance with audit requirements and supports the Clinic Director in staff coordination and projects. Responsibilities Outline dental options for patients, interact regularly with student dentists, provide payment plans, schedule appointments, and handle patient inquiries via phone or email. Apply discounts to patient accounts. Act as liaison between student dentists and patients regarding financial obligations and treatment plan changes. Coordinate benefits administration and financial arrangements, including verifying insurance options and limitations before appointments to facilitate financial decision-making. Estimate insurance coverage and treatment fees, educating patients on insurance benefits and limitations. Secure financial commitments from patients and offer third-party financing options such as Care Credit. Assist in staff coordination, adherence to policies, release medical records, audit insurance coding, and monitor documentation accuracy. Perform general office duties and other tasks as assigned by TCDM leadership. Qualifications Education / Experience A college degree (AS) with dental experience or a high school diploma with over five years of dental office experience is required. A background as a Hygienist, RDA, or CDA is a plus. Knowledge in patient relations, scheduling, bookkeeping, ADA coding, insurance, billing, and reimbursement, including HMO & PPO plans, is essential. Availability during assigned hours for student instruction and practice development is required. Fluency in English is necessary; Spanish is a plus. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Accurate data entry skills Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite At least 5 years of experience in a customer service environment with significant patient interaction, preferably in healthcare settings Flexibility and adaptability to changing environments Proactive communication skills, both written and verbal Exceptional customer service and professionalism Organizational and planning skills with attention to detail Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and follow through Adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA laws Ability to work collegially and respectfully with others Working Conditions Fully on-site position with extensive computer use, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 5 lbs. No travel required. Compensation Maximum salary: USD $64,000/year; Minimum salary: USD $51,000/year.
