Duties include managing & overseeing:
Sales
Lead from the front in selling units and motivate team to meet desired targets.
Develop and execute strategic sales plans to grow market share and increase pre-owned volumes
Drive profitability across all deals, including 1st and 2nd gross, in line with OEM and shareholder targets
Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to adjust pricing and sales strategies
Manage all leads and opportunities through the CMS to ensure maximum conversion
Work closely with F&I, New Vehicle Sales, and Aftersales to optimise deal structures and overall profitability Marketing
Implement targeted marketing initiatives to increase enquiries, showroom traffic, and customer engagement
Ensure all vehicles are correctly priced and professionally advertised across digital and relevant sales platforms Leadership
Lead, coach, and motivate the Pre-Owned Sales Team to achieve and exceed monthly targets
Build a high-performance, accountable team culture focused on results and customer excellence
Create an engaging environment that encourages ownership, energy, and continuous improvement Stock Management
Manage sourcing and purchasing of quality pre-owned stock based on accurate residual value assessments
Control inventory levels, pricing, and ageing to maintain healthy stock turn
Evaluate trade-ins using tools such as Bid4 Cars and structure profitable acquisitions
Oversee the reconditioning process, ensuring cost control and that all vehicles are sales-ready Customer Care
Drive a strong customer-centric culture across the department
Build and maintain long-term customer relationships to support repeat business and referrals
Ensure a professional, seamless customer experience throughout the sales journey Performance Management
Monitor individual and team performance against targets and KPIs
Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback
Implement performance improvement and productivity plans where required Financial Management
Manage the departments full financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control
Oversee floorplan management, stock holding costs, and overall departmental profitability
Support the Dealer Principal with financial planning, reporting, and business strategy
Ensure compliance with OEM standards, financial controls, corporate governance, and industry legislation Requirements:
Grade 12 / Matric (essential)
A Business Management qualification or relevant tertiary education will be advantageous
510 years dealership experience, with strong exposure to pre-owned sales management
Solid understanding of dealership operations, including New & Used Sales, F&I, and Aftersales
Strong knowledge of the pre-owned market, including sourcing, pricing, stock control, and reconditioning
Experience working with CMS, Auto Trader, Bid4 Cars, Evolve, or similar dealer systems
Strong financial and business acumen
Valid drivers licence and willingness to travel if required
Established network of customers, suppliers, and industry stakeholders advantageous
Proficient in MS Office, email, and internet systems
Clear criminal and credit record
Preference for candidates based on the East Rand or surrounding areas
Proficient in English and an additional local language
