Job Purpose

The incumbent will be required to do the following amongst others:

  • Initiate, innovate, execute, and lead Nedbank’s procurement strategy and function.
  • Drive and implement an efficient & effective procurement strategy in line with the Nedbank Group strategy.
  • Lead, support and administer the management of the end-to-end Procurement function in a transparent, fair and equitable manner.

Job Responsibilities

  • Reduce total cost ownership for the bank by understanding Nedbank strategy, analysing and categorising spend for the Group, identifying cost reduction opportunities, creating action plans, setting performance targets, and implementing the plan.
  • Contribute to revenue growth by identifying major suppliers and their employees not banking with Nedbank, prioritising the suppliers, creating business leads, and forwarding to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure value-added results for the Group by partnering with stakeholders for effective consolidation and delivery on all business requirements.
  • Ensure a strategic partnership through established effective engagement channels by monitoring key expectations of stakeholders (internal/external) and building long-term relationships.
  • Promote a healthy culture by being a value-driven leader and strategic business partner through developing strong, trusting relations with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure that Sub-functional and Group Human Resources objectives are being met by creating an environment and driving own team to improve external relationships.
  • Lead delivery of Nedbank long-term and short-term objectives by creating strategic plans/policies, establishing scorecards, aligning scorecards to Group vision and strategy, enabling readiness through coaching and mentoring, reviewing business processes and controls.
  • Identify business risks and lead the management and control of the risks by analysing Supply Chain processes, identifying risk areas, creating and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Manage supplier performance by leading performance surveys, analysing performance, creating corrective action plans, enforcing compliance to SLAs/contracts, and making appropriate decisions to terminate/renew contracts.
  • Provide appropriate leadership, guidance, development, and coaching to the team to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure team is staffed with the right capabilities and competence to improve team effectiveness.
  • Assist the team in overcoming barriers to effective performance in clusters through effective problem-solving to ensure business plan execution.
  • Manage team in sub-function by capitalising on opportunities to reward excellence in individual performance or take appropriate action.
  • Manage retention and succession of key staff by creating a platform for learning development to sustain the leadership pipeline and ensure that the right leaders are appointed in the right jobs.
  • Drive the required change intervention to deliver on solutions implemented to ensure return on investment for the enterprise on implemented systems and solutions.
  • Keep abreast of new developments and best practices in strategy, business planning, and execution to assess potential influence of the direction of best practice in the market to ensure reciprocal returns for Nedbank.
  • Produce, align, and monitor Employee Equity (EE) and Transformational plan with Group Strategy, through consultation with relevant stakeholders, to ensure compliance with the Employment Equity Act and Group Transformation initiatives.
  • Analyse deviations from EE and Transformation Plan and ensure recommended corrective action is appropriate and implemented where necessary to achieve targets.
  • Identify inequalities or barriers within the division by investigating survey results and Remuneration data to ensure achievement of Cluster EE Plans.
  • Set guidelines to facilitate achievement of Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Nedbank targets.

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
  • Professional Qualifications/Honour’s Degree.
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees.

Preferred Qualification

  • MBA/Master’s degree in supply chain management – will be added advantage.

Minimum Experience Required

  • 10 years’+ experience at Senior or Executive level preferably in Procurement and Supply Chain gained at a large-scale institution in procurement.
