Head of Commercial Finance

Our client is currently seeking a dynamic, financially minded individual for their Head of Commercial Finance position.

This is a critical role requiring a strategic thinker capable of driving financial strategies while supporting various departments. The successful candidate must have extensive experience in the financial space.

Responsibilities include:

1. Developing, leading, and managing all commercial activities.
2. Strategic Involvement: Providing strategic and commercial input into the renewable business, including pipeline, revenue, and cost management. Developing business cases, reviewing supplier proposals, financial analysis, and project performance review.
3. Commercialisation of the business, including market strategy, commercial offerings, and strategic development.
4. Collaborating with business units to design solar and water proposals, identifying technical solutions to improve performance.
5. Risk mitigation through controls, legal contract review, and insurance.
6. Mentoring and consulting across business operations.
7. Group Involvement: Supporting the group with strategic input, process documentation, budgeting, property portfolio assessments, and IT system implementations.
8. Financial Reporting & Management: Overseeing financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and managing funding solutions, including utility cost recovery models.
9. Managing financial controls, policies, weekly cash flow, and external audits.
10. Special Projects: Supporting financial modeling for mergers, acquisitions, and regulatory projects like EPCs.
11. Human Investment: Managing teams and stakeholder relationships, including external partners and industry forums.

Requirements:

• Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)).
• 8-10 years of senior financial management experience, preferably in solar or real estate industries.
• Minimum 5 years of leadership experience.
• Familiarity with systems like SAGE, Archibus, MDA, Deal Path.
• Excellent communication, analytical, leadership, and technical skills.
• Strong knowledge of financial controls, compliance, and risk management.

Ensure compliance with relevant acts and minimize business risks. Ability to work under pressure and respond to change effectively.
