WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FORfibertime TM is seeking a Chief Growth Officer (CGO)to ownwhere and how fast the network expandsacross South Africa and selected international markets.
This role is accountable forgeographic expansion strategy , spanning fibre-to-the-home, public Wi Fi, and hybrid access models.
The CGO ensures that growth decisions maximise coverage, optimise capital deployment, and create the foundation for sustainable subscriber activation.
While the CGO does not directly own customer acquisition, the role works intight alignment with the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)to ensure that coverage converts into active subscribers and long-term revenue.
SCOPE OF ACCOUNTABILITYThe Chief Growth Officer has end-to-end accountability for: National and international network expansion strategy Market selection and geographic prioritisation Expansion planning across FTTH, public Wi Fi, and hybrid access models Network coverage growth Capital-efficient rollout planning Expansion partnerships and delivery model WHAT YOU'LL DO (AND LOVE DOING)Define and own fibertime TM's expansion roadmap across South Africa and selected African markets Prioritise cities, townships, communities, and regions based on data-driven insights Sequence rollouts according to demand, density, commercial potential, and capital efficiency Translate long-term strategy into annual and quarterly rollout plans Network Coverage Growth Ownnetwork coverage growthas the primary success metric Drive growth in premises serviceable and public Wi Fi footprint Balance speed, quality, and operational sustainability as the network scales Capital Deployment & Rollout Efficiency Optimise capital deployment to maximise coverage per rand invested Partner closely with Finance on ROI modelling, funding structures, and capital allocation Ensure rollout strategies support long-term financial sustainability Alignment with Commercial Strategy Align expansion planning with fibertime TM's broader growth and commercial strategy Ensure network coverage supports distribution, activation, and customer acquisition plans Maintain close collaboration with the CCO to translate coverage into active subscribers Multi-Access Technology Strategy Own expansion across FTTH, public Wi Fi, and hybrid access models Evaluate and adopt technologies that improve speed, cost-efficiency, and reach Ensure expansion strategies remain scalable and future-ready Partnerships & Ecosystem Development Build strategic relationships with municipalities, property owners, and communities Support wayleave negotiations, permissions, and partnership frameworks Enable and support international expansion initiatives where applicable Leadership & Governance Build and lead high-performing expansion and planning teams Establish strong governance across Growth, Construction, Network, and Commercial teams Identify, track, and manage expansion-related risks Report clearly to EXCO and the Board on coverage growth, capital efficiency, and strategic risks MEASURES OF SUCCESSPrimary Metric Network coverage growth Active subscribers Supporting Metrics WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLEProfile & Experience Senior leadership experience in large-scale infrastructure rollout, ideally in Africa Strong preference for deep exposure to the South African market Telecommunications, fibre, or infrastructure expansion experience advantageous Experience operating in complex regulatory and municipal environments Proven ability to operate at national and international scale Key Attributes Execution-focused growth leader with strong delivery discipline Deep understanding of African infrastructure and township realities Strong analytical, planning, and prioritisation capability Ability to align rollout strategy with commercial outcomes Comfortable balancing ambition, speed, and capital efficiency At fibertime TM, growth is not about footprint for footprint's sake - it's aboutimpact at scale.
