Job Title: Compliance Director / Compliance Manager Location: Africa Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Compliance Director/Manager to lead and enhance our compliance framework across multiple business units in the gaming and entertainment industry.
The ideal candidate will bring deep regulatory knowledge, leadership experience, and a proven track record of managing licensing, audits, risk mitigation, and cross-functional compliance programs.
Compliance Strategy & Governance Design and implement a company-wide compliance strategy, aligning with legal and business objectives.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulators, gambling boards, and other external stakeholders.
Maintain and monitor risk registers, implement mitigation plans, and conduct gap analysis across the organization.
Licensing & Regulatory Affairs Lead all regulatory applications (new licenses, amendments, renewals) across national and regional jurisdictions.
Ensure ongoing compliance with relevant gaming, financial, and AML laws and regulations (e.g., FICA, AML/CFT, GDPR).
Oversee internal responses and follow-ups for regulatory audits and public hearings.
Policy Development & Enforcement Draft, review, and maintain internal control policies, SOPs, and governance documentation.
Oversee implementation of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Responsible Gambling initiatives.
Monitor changes in laws and ensure company policies reflect legal developments.
10+ years of experience in compliance within regulated industries, ideally, i Gaming, betting, or gaming.
At least 5 years in manager positions.
Proven success in managing relationships with national/provincial regulators and gambling boards.
Deep understanding of AML/CFT frameworks, audit procedures, and risk management systems.
Strong knowledge of licensing processes and experience leading company-wide compliance initiatives.
Excellent leadership, communication, and training skills.
Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Bachelor's Degree in Law, Commerce, Risk Management, or related field (Postgraduate diploma preferred).
Previous role as Compliance Manager, Regional Compliance Lead, or Group Compliance Officer.
Exposure to multi-jurisdictional environments (South Africa, Brazil, East Europe, Curacao, Malta + international regulations).
Experience developing Responsible Gaming and Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programs.
Experience working in a matrixed organization with multiple stakeholders and departments.
