Our Civils Department is looking for a strong and confident person to carry out the discipline engineering functions which include and are not limited to:

• Infrastructure design including calculations, sketches/drawings, and design reports
• Design Lead managing teams including reporting on progress and performance
• Site inspections and investigations

Key Performance Areas (Responsibilities)

• Perform engineering calculations, analysis, and design using governing codes and standards to be fit for purpose.
• Provide drawings and/or sketches for designs to be incorporated in drawings by draughters.
• Research design options through trade-off studies where required
• Provide technical input into the preparation of tender documents.
• Manage the markup and back draughting of drawings.
• Signoff Issued for Construction drawings
• Provide input into Engineering Design Criteria
• Carry out site investigations and field tests as and when required and report findings.

Design Integration

• Integrate vendor information into the design process.
• Integration of design information between disciplines and specialist consultants.
• Integrate specialist consultants' designs into the design process.

Design Management

• Manage the schedule (time), cost, and scope of all design components on the project (discipline-specific tracking sheets).
• Providing discipline-specific inputs into the Change Management process
• Ensure Quality standards (Industry, DRA, Client, best practice) are adhered to.
• Participate in design reviews of completed designs
• Manage the filing and archiving of design documentation

Communications

• Liaise and coordinate with the client, project manager, and engineers of other disciplines to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.
• Written and spoken communications should be in a respectful and professional manner.
• Keep project engineers and Design Managers informed and up to date on the status of technical design aspects of the project.

Other Affiliations

• ECSA - Pr Eng or Pr Tech essential

Software

• Autocad Draughting Basics
• Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word)

Design

• Infrastructure Buried Services: Fire, Potable, and Sewer Reticulation Analysis
• Storm Water Run-off Analysis & Design of associated structures
• Roads: Geometric and Pavement Layerworks Design
• Bulk Earthworks: Terrace Setting Out and Shaping
• SANS/Colto payment clauses for the compilation of Bill of Quantities

Experience

• 10 years in Infrastructure Design in Mining and Mineral Processing essential

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering (B Tech, BSc (Eng)) is essential
